Connecting
Musically
Gethsemane's music
ministry features an
impressive number of
opportunities. Directed
by Pastor Fischer, an
accomplished classical
organist, contemporary
keyboardist and
director, music is an
important year-round
ministry of fellowship
and outreach at
Gethsemane.
Adult Choir meets
each Wednesday evening,
Sept-May, and sings
twice a month in Sunday
morning worship services
and worship festivals
(e.g. Easter,
Christmas). Since 2007
the members of St.
Augustine Lutheran,
Troy, have been invited
to rehearse under Pastor
Fischer's direction for
their Sunday worship
services.
Praise Team meets
each Thursday morning to
prepare for leading
congregational worship
in our 9:30 am morning
service "Pre-Service
Praise" and in our
Monday evening services.
A variety of new songs
are learned, performed,
and taught to the
congregation as we
praise our Lord in
worship.
Seasonal Choirs:
Gethsemane offers
special opportunities
for choir members and
those who may not be
able to participate
regularly in choir to
join in making our
worship experience
musically special.
Easter Choir, Christmas
Choir and Summer Choir
not only perform in
worship at Gethsemane,
but also at other area
churches and Adult
Assisted Living
facilities in the
greater Rochester area.
Special Ensembles:
Soloists, duets and
small groups often "dot"
our worship. Most
exciting are our family
groups in which
mother-daughter or
siblings perform
together. As part of our
commitment to outreach,
several of these groups
perform once-a-month at
area Assisted Living
facilities.
Evening
Handbells: Gethsemane's
Evening
Handbell Choir has
been active in ministry for two
years. Beginning as a
chime choir, the Evening
Handbells adds a fresh,
distinctive dynamic to
our worship services.
Morning Handbells
meets once a week for an
hour. A perfect way to
get introduced to
handbells, novices find
the Morning Handbells to
be a simple, fun way to
get acquainted with
bells and others. Much
of the music for this
group is written by
Pastor Fischer in such a
way as to facilitate
easy learning and
quality performance.
This group performs in
Sunday worship and is
presently planning to
perform in area Assisted
Living Facilities.
"Speak to one another
with psalms, hymns and
spiritual songs.
Sing and make music in
your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks
to God the Father for
everything, in the name
of our Lord Jesus
Christ."
St.
Paul In Ephesians 5:19-20 (NIV)
