Passionate Outreach

Our "Best Is Yet To Come" visioning process has given Gethsemane even greater enthusiasm and commitment to reaching out to others in our congregation, community and cosmos in various ways.

LCMS Support: Gethsemane is a proud member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and supports the mission of our denomination through regular support and special appeals.

Seminary Student Support: Each year Gethsemane supports seminarians at both Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri and Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Special gifts from Gethsemane encourage and support these students as they focus their energies--and lives--on full-time ministry in the LCMS.

St. Paul Lutheran Mission--Pontiac, Michigan. In addition to generous financial support, Gethsemane provides other resources, materials, supplies and energy to help this newly-started mission. Recently Gethsemane members assisted in St. Paul's "Voice of Truth" mission initiative during July 2008.

LATINO, Detroit. Gethsemane also is an active partner with LATINO, a Lutheran Ministry to the Hispanic people of Michigan. Centered in Detroit's "Mexican Town", Gethsemane looks for even more opportunities to support cross-cultural outreach to the growing population of Hispanic immigrants to Michigan.

Specialized Outreach Ministries such as Angel Food Ministries, Ministries to area Adult Living facilities, and other special efforts are just part of the on-going outreach this congregation conducts in obedience to the Great Commission.

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I
am with you always, to the very end of the age."
                                   Jesus In Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
